But as the number of platforms to reach customers grows, their attention spans dwindle and companies struggle to get their message across.

While the Internet has made it easier for people to enter the marketing field, it has also increased the demand for professionals with specialized skills and knowledge. An MBA in marketing provides professionals with contemporary and traditional marketing know-how and skills, giving them a competitive edge in a crowded field.

These programs typically include a strong practical component that helps students keep pace with the ever-changing marketing landscape. It helps savvy marketers develop new skill sets and strengthen marketing fundamentals such as customer research, effective communication, and developing a relationship with target prospects. In a day and age where information is available in a few clicks, students in these programs learn how to best represent their brand and win consumers.

Marketing forms the backbone of any successful organization, and graduates may be eligible to work in various departments such as PR, advertising, brand management, analytics, and research. A specialized business degree in marketing also can prepare students for top-level positions such as marketing director, business development manager, and marketing manager.

She played a key role in establishing Chef Merito as the “Official Seasoning of the Dodgers” in 2013, enhancing the brand’s visibility through original content and seasonal in-stadium menu items. Most importantly, it has instilled in me the importance of stepping back to approach situations with a fresh perspective, a skill that has been instrumental in my career growth.

BSchools.org: What is one piece of advice you would give to current MBA students?

Corugedo: My advice to current MBA students is to fully immerse themselves in every aspect of their coursework and build strong connections with their professors. During my time at Pepperdine, participating in a business class where we collaborated with real businesses was not just beneficial, but it was a game-changer for my career. These relationships are not just about networking but about learning from the best in the field.

Additionally, excelling in your strategy class is vital, as it equips you to critically analyze every facet of business, not just within your specific segment. This broad strategic perspective is invaluable and can distinguish you in your field, enhancing your ability to devise and implement high-level strategies across various campaigns and corporate objectives.

Furthermore, I recommend taking advantage of study-abroad opportunities.
