University of Southern Indiana | Accelerated & Affordable Online MBA

University of Southern Indiana (USI) offers an online MBA with a general path or one of seven concentrations: accounting, data analytics, engineering management, healthcare administration, human resources, marketing, and project management. The USI online MBA, offered through the Romain College of Business, is an accelerated program that can be completed in 11 months or more with accelerated eight-week courses. The GMAT is typically required; however, test score waivers are available. Start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer.

Topics covered for all concentrations include leadership skills, information systems, technology, managerial economics, marketing, strategic management, accounting, and international management. Additional courses are designed to specifically address the concentration areas.

The concentration in accounting focuses on management accounting with topics such as the interpretation of financial statements, financial reporting, auditing, internal control issues, risk assessment, ethical standards, financial regulation, fraud, and corporate governance. Graduates may go on to positions such as senior accountant, financial controller, CFO, or business consultant.

The data analytics concentration focuses on quantitative problem-solving, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making. Graduates of the program may go on to positions such as statistics educator, IT analyst, personal financial advisor, business analyst, or computer analyst.

The concentration in engineering management is designed for engineers and focuses on preparing graduates for leadership roles in construction, manufacturing, industrial management, research, product development, project management, and technology. Concentration courses focus on project management, quality management, and supply chain management.

The healthcare administration concentration is designed specifically for healthcare professionals to move into leadership and management positions in the healthcare industry. Topics covered include risk management, patient safety, healthcare markets, business analytics, organizational behavior, and Lean Six Sigma (LSS). Graduates may go on to positions such as health services manager, hospital administrator, health care executive, or policy analyst.

The concentration in human resources prepares graduates for positions such as human resources director, executive recruiter, human resources consultant, or training and development manager. Topics covered include legal issues, ethics, social issues, human capital management, employment law, and business analytics.

The marketing concentration prepares graduates to recognize consumer behavior and apply data-driven marketing strategies and techniques to that behavior to expand businesses and manage brands. Future positions may include digital marketing manager, marketing analyst, marketing director, and consumer behavior analyst.

The concentration in project management covers topics such as problem-solving, quality control, time management, project management techniques, and resource management. The project management courses align with the Project Management Institute (PMI) and prepare students to earn project management certifications in the industry.

The University of Southern Indiana is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The online MBA is accredited through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). USI is located in Evansville, Indiana.

What to Expect from the University of Southern Indiana Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA program must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The GMAT/GRE is waived for individuals with a minimum 3.0 GPA, those with a GPA of 2.5 who have at least three years of full-time relevant work experience, or those who hold a graduate degree. No work experience is required, however, the application materials must include a professional resume.

Application materials include an online application, application fee, official transcripts, a professional resume, and contact information for three professional references. Students should inquire with the Romain College of Business for further information.

Study Plan: The 30-credit USI online MBA can be completed in just 11 months. Accelerated online courses run every eight weeks. Start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. The program is 100 percent online.

Curriculum: The University of Southern Indiana online MBA includes the following core courses: leadership skills and innovation; information systems and technology; financial management and financial markets; accounting for decision-making and control; managerial economics; marketing strategies; and strategic and international management. Those earning a general MBA complete data-driven decision-making and choose two electives from a list of courses.

The MBA in accounting includes financial statement analysis; seminar in auditing; and accounting regulation and compliance.

The MBA in data analytics includes applied business analytics; data-driven decision-making; and information visualization and dashboarding.

The MBA in engineering management includes principles and practices of project management; principles and practices and quality management; and principles and practices of supply chain management.

The MBA in healthcare administration includes risk management; data-driven decision-making; and Lean Six Sigma.

The MBA in human resources includes the legal and social environment of business; managing human capital; and data-driven decision-making.

The MBA in marketing includes data-driven decision-making; digital marketing; and consumer behavior.

The MBA in project management includes Principles and practices of project management; and project management I-II.

Online Experience: The University of Southern Indiana utilizes the Blackboard learning management system (LMS). Other applications include Microsoft Teams, VoiceThread, and Zoom video conferencing. In addition, Proctorio is used for exam proctoring. Courses may include lectures, discussion boards, projects, assignments, readings, and assessments.

Student services include help with online programs and resources, academic support, faculty support, admissions counseling, career counseling, and technical support. Online adult learners also have access to the Center for Adult Learner Success.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the USI online MBA is 100 percent online. New online students may complete an online orientation.
