Topics covered in the online MBA may include marketing management, financial accounting, microeconomics, information systems, economic theory, sustainability, equity, statistical analysis, organizational behavior, and legal issues in managerial decision-making.

What to Expect from the University of Miami Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. No GMAT or work experience is required; however, a current resume is required.

Application materials include an online application, unofficial transcripts, a current resume, two professional recommendations, and a personal statement. Proof of English language proficiency is required as applicable. Applicants must also request that official transcripts be sent to the University of Miami.

Study Plan: The University of Miami runs courses one at a time, every seven weeks. Start dates land in the fall, spring, and summer. The MBA may be earned in 24 to 28 months.

The MBA program is 100 percent online, but students have the opportunity to attend an in-person, weekend orientation at the beginning of the program, as well as a week-long campus residency. Those who do not attend the in-person orientation have access to an online orientation alternative.

Curriculum: The University of Miami online MBA comprises 42 credits.

Core courses include the fundamentals of finance, accounting, and economics; the foundations of marketing management; management information systems; essentials of economics theory; an introduction to financial and managerial accounting; managing responsible behavior in organizations; the legal implications in executive decision-making; statistical analysis for managerial decision-making; operations management; and strategic management.

Students complete 42 credits over 13 courses. Electives may include intermediate corporate finance and investments; operations research models in management; and other elective courses.

Online Experience: The University of Miami utilizes the UOnline learning platform to deliver asynchronous course materials. This is also where discussion boards and office hours take place. Courses include checkpoints and deadlines throughout each seven-week course to keep students on track. There are three on-campus experiences offered including a weekend orientation and two on-campus residencies.

Students have access to 24/7 technical support, career coaching, faculty support, a large alumni network, an online bookstore and library, financial aid services, and academic advisors.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the online MBA is delivered 100 percent online. Students do have opportunities to visit campus through a weekend program orientation and a week-long residency course.

During orientation, students are trained in the use of the UOnline learning platform as well as touring the Coral Gables campus and meeting with alumni, faculty, and fellow students. Another opportunity for an on-site experience is the option to complete one course at the Coral Gables campus over a week-long residency.
