Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Online MBA
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) offers a fully online MBA with a general path or concentrations in accounting, business analytics, finance, healthcare administration, and international business. With accelerated seven-week courses, the general MBA can be completed in just 12 to 20 months, while the concentration MBAs take 12 to 24 months. Start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer.
Online MBA students learn a variety of skills across all pathways, and specific skills related to the area of concentration. All MBA students learn to:
- Lead teams in a collaborative environment, solving problems in various situations
- Expand their accounting skills, delving into the application, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements
- Explore managerial economics, including the tools and information that help managers effectively make decisions
- Expand their understanding of financial analytics
- Understand organizational behavior in the context of individuals and groups, including personality, organizational politics, conflict management, employee satisfaction, outcomes, and team building
- Match the proper software tools to the management application and understand how to use computer-based technology
- Understand marketing management concepts
- Manage operations including operational design, capacity planning, quality control measures, forecasting, and international, legal, ethical, and environmental operations management
- Use policy, strategy, and strategic decision-making to make administrative decisions and understand the effect of these decisions on organizational outcomes
Each concentration then has its own outcomes according to the concentration courses and area of emphasis.
Those with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution may apply to the online MBA program. A resume is required, although no specific work experience is required. Those with a non-business bachelor’s degree may need to complete up to four foundational courses in addition to the MBA curriculum.

What to Expect from the TAMUCC Online MBA
Admission Requirements: A minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 credits of the bachelor’s degree is required for MBA entry. GMAT/GRE test scores within the past five years are required; however, a waiver is available to applicants who hold a 3.0 or higher GPA in the last 60 credits of their bachelor’s degrees and have earned a grade of B or higher in college algebra or a high-level math course.
Applicants who have a non-business bachelor’s degree may need to complete up to four prerequisite courses in addition to the MBA curriculum. Although no work experience is required, submission of a resume is included in the application process.
Admissions materials include an online application, a current resume, official transcripts, an application fee, and an essay. Online MBA applicants are allowed to transfer up to nine credits into the program with approval.
Study Plan: The general online MBA can be completed in 12 to 20 months while the MBA with a concentration can be completed in 12 to 24 months. Accelerated courses last seven weeks each and start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. There are no campus visits or internships required.
Curriculum: The TAMUCC general online MBA comprises 30 credits while the MBA with concentration comprises 36 credits. Prerequisites may also be required for those with non-business bachelor’s degrees. Prerequisite courses include the foundations of accounting; foundations in economics; financial management concepts; and statistical and decision analysis.
Core MBA courses for all areas of emphasis include accounting topics; managerial economics; managerial finance; organizational behavior and theory; software-based business solutions; marketing management; operations management; and administrative strategy and policy capstone. Concentration courses are as follows:
General MBA: Students complete two of the following electives: entrepreneurship; leadership; and social media marketing.
Accounting: Students complete forensic accounting; oil, gas, and energy accounting; taxes and business strategy; and advanced auditing and assurance services.
Business Analytics: Students complete business database management; data warehousing and data mining for business intelligence; and business intelligence and analytics, and then choose between managing the information systems function or business application development.
Finance: Students complete multinational finance; personal financial planning; financial markets and institutions; and investment and portfolio theory.
Healthcare Administration: Students complete the healthcare system; health economics and policy; healthcare financial management; and health and law ethics.
International Business: Students complete marketing in the international environment; international economics; multinational finance; and multinational management.
Online Experience: TAMUCC delivers courses asynchronously through the Blackboard online learning management system (LMS). Here students can view all course materials, syllabi, videos, discussion boards, assignments, and access interactive apps and tools. This is also where assessments are completed and students can communicate with faculty and peers. Students also have access to a secure S.A.I.L. portal where they are able to register for classes, check transcripts and grades, accept financial awards, and access class schedules.
Other student services include access to the Mary and Jeff Bell Library, technical support, academic advising, career counseling, faculty support hours, and veteran support services.
On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the TAMUCC online MBA is fully online.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students may apply for unsubsidized federal graduate loans through the FAFSA. Applicants should contact the Financial Aid Office through TAMUCC for information on loans and other aid.
