New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) offers a 100 percent online master of business administration (MBA) with concentrations in general business, healthcare administration, and entrepreneurship. NMHU offers a multicultural focus in this accelerated program that can be completed in just one year.
The Highlands University online MBA focuses on problem-solving through the use of simulations and case studies that explore leadership and managerial responsibilities. Core courses focus on business topics such as quantitative methods, accounting, managerial finance, ethical decision-making, business research, law and ethics, marketing management, and business strategy.
Courses last eight weeks each, with two sessions per semester in the fall, spring, and summer. Students may transfer up to six credits to the program. At two courses per eight-week session, students can complete the degree in just one year. Part-time study is also an option. Those without a background in business may need to take an additional foundation course.

What to Expect from the New Mexico Highlands University Online MBA
Admission Requirements: Prospective online MBA students must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Prospective students submit an online application, official transcripts, and an up-to-date resume or CV. No GMAT, GRE, or work experience is necessary; however, a resume is required.
Study Plan: The NMHU online MBA program can be completed in one year by taking two courses every eight weeks. Part-time plans are also available. In addition, NMHU accepts up to six transfer credits. Start dates for online programs land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. Students take nine core courses and either three electives for the general business concentration or three defined courses for the entrepreneurship and healthcare administration concentrations.
MBA Core Curriculum: The Highlands online MBA comprises 36 credits. Core courses for all concentrations include quantitative methods; business research methods; financial accounting; managerial finance; managerial economics; business and society; law and ethics in business; marketing management; and business strategy. Students without a business background may need to take an additional foundation course.
General Business: Students choose three courses from the following electives: financial statement analysis; investments; managerial approach to internet marketing strategies; entrepreneurship; international business; and human resources management.
Healthcare Administration: Healthcare administration concentration courses include health care policy; case studies in healthcare administration; and leadership for innovation in healthcare.
Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurship concentration courses include entrepreneurial forum; entrepreneurship; and managerial approach to internet marketing strategies.
Online Experience: New Mexico Highlands University delivers courses asynchronously through the Brightspace online learning management system (LMS). The program focuses on problem-solving using case studies and simulations based on leadership and managerial responsibilities. Each student is assigned to a faculty member for one-on-one advising and mentorship throughout the program. Student services include an online library, online tutoring services, enrollment counselors, advisers, financial aid services, and technical support.
On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the Highlands University MBA is 100 percent online.
