Methodist University (MU) offers a fully online master of business administration (MBA) program through the Reeves School of Business. The degree can be completed in 12 to 18 months of full-time study or roughly three years part-time. No campus visits are required.
Through a capstone course, students have the opportunity to complete a business project or academic research project or participate in an experiential learning opportunity.
The MU online MBA curriculum has an entrepreneurial focus, helping graduates to fulfill leadership and management positions with the skills necessary in many business fields. Courses last eight weeks each and cover foundational business concepts including business statistics, financial management, business law and ethics, business accounting, marketing management, operations management, organization and leadership, organizational behavior.
Graduates of the MU online MBA program may go on to positions such as business operations manager, entrepreneur, marketing manager, financial manager, marketing analyst, investment banker, human resources manager, sales manager, and other leadership and management business positions.
Methodist University is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). What to Expect from the Methodist University Online MBA
Admission Requirements: Prospective students must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Those who have not earned a bachelor’s degree in business will likely need to take several prerequisite courses. No work experience or GMAT is required.
Application materials include an online application, two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and official transcripts. Proof of English language proficiency is also required if applicable.
Study Plan: Methodist University online MBA courses that last eight weeks each and the program can be completed in 12 to 18 months on a full-time basis or about three years part-time. Start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. Those without a prior business degree will need to complete microeconomics, macroeconomics, marketing principles, business statistics, and financial accounting.
No campus visits or practicum experiences are required; however, students do have the option of participating in an experiential learning opportunity during the capstone course.
Curriculum: The Methodist University online MBA comprises 36 credits including 24 core credits, six credits of leadership focus courses, and six credits of electives. Core courses may include accounting for managers; managerial economics; applied business statistics; advanced financial management; business law and ethics; marketing management; operations management; and a capstone experience.
Leadership focus courses may include organizational behavior and organization and leadership. Students then choose two electives which may include ethical decision-making; research methods; and global business management.
Those without a bachelor’s degree in business must complete microeconomics, macroeconomics, marketing principles, business statistics, and financial accounting.
Online Experience: MU delivers courses through the Canvas online learning management system (LMS). Faculty create course sites through Canvas with syllabi, a course plan with assignments, course modules, resources, grading, and discussion boards. Any live class sessions or meetings go through Big Blue Button, which is comparable to platforms such as Microsoft teams and others.
Students have access to a student services coordinator, the Center for Student Success, the Monarch Tutoring Center, the Writing Center, disability services, faculty support, career counseling, and technical support.
On-Site Requirements: There are no campus visit requirements as the Methodist University online MBA is 100 percent online. Students do have the option of participating in an experiential learning opportunity during the capstone course.
