What to Expect from the LaSalle University Online MBA Programs

Admission Requirements: LaSalle University evaluates applicants holistically, taking into account their interest, potential for achievement, and aptitude in graduate studies. Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and submit official transcripts from all post-secondary education taken and a professional resume. The GMAT/GRE requirement may be waived depending on the applicant’s professional and academic background.

Study Plan: The LaSalle University online MBA begins twice each in the fall, spring, and summer, and can be completed in 14 to 16 months. Courses last seven weeks each, with two taken per semester. Students without a business background or significant business experience may need to take six credits of foundation courses. No campus visits or field experiences are required.

Curriculum: The LaSalle online MBA programs comprise 33 to 42 credits, depending on educational background and professional experience. Those who have not completed equivalent coursework need to take three foundation courses: financial accounting, financial markets, and business economics for managers.

Students with an undergraduate business degree in marketing, accounting, finance, or business analytics can waive the corresponding core course, reducing their courseload to 33 credits. Core courses for all programs include creating customers through effective marketing management; managerial accounting for decision-making; financial performance: control and measurement; and business analytics for informed and effective decision-making.

Executive perspectives courses include developing leadership skills; information technology for decision-making; financial statement analysis; and frameworks for socially responsible decision-making. The integrative capstone course is competitive strategy.

General MBA students take three electives from all specializations to tailor their degrees to their professional goals. Specialization courses for the other MBAs are as follows:

  • Accounting: Students choose three of the following: accounting analytics; accounting information and ERP systems; accounting for managerial decision-making; and financial accounting theory and current practices.
  • Business Systems & Analytics: Business systems analysis and database design; data warehousing and data mining; special topics in business systems and analytics.
  • Finance: Students choose three of the following: financial analytics; financial instruments and market; portfolio management; and global financial management.
  • Management: Students choose three of the following: health systems management; organizational development and the consulting process; managing cultural diversity in the workplace; and human resource management.
  • Marketing: Strategic marketing analytics; consumer behavior; international marketing.

Online Experience: LaSalle University delivers courses asynchronously through the Canvas learning management system (LMS). This provides maximum flexibility as students can log in and complete work on their own schedules. The MBA programs are student-focused, with highly responsive faculty and advising teams. The online environment also allows for more cultural diversity, with a variety of students coming from different backgrounds, work experiences, and expertise.

The LMS may include recorded lectures and videos, links, readings, assignments, case studies, discussion boards, and other materials. LaSalle University online students can access the same student support services as campus students, including library services, financial services, technical support, career counseling, faculty office hours, and admissions counseling.

On-Site Requirements: The LaSalle University online MBA programs are 100 percent online with no campus visits or field experiences.
