Howard University Executive MBA (EMBA) & Online MBA
The School of Business through Howard University offers an online executive master of business administration (EMBA) that can be completed in as little as 18 months and an online MBA that can be completed in about two years. Both programs are 100 percent online with opportunities for international immersion and study abroad. No campus visits are required.
Both programs offer a fresh perspective on business environments including not only financial concerns but also ethical and cultural factors that shape the way business happens. Students are taught good corporate citizenship, learning to lead and manage businesses well, and respecting the needs of people and communities.
Graduates of the Howard University School of Business are highly sought-after and pursued by government agencies, corporations, and other organizations due to their high caliber performance as business professionals.
The executive MBA is designed for working professionals who have at least seven years of post-graduate work experience including at least five years of management or leadership experience. Participants in the EMBA have access to executive coaching and have the option of doing an international immersion during the final semester of the program.
The online MBA is designed for those with at least two years of post-graduate, professional work experience who are earlier in their careers than EMBA applicants. With a focus on global business in non-profit, private, and public arenas, the Howard University online MBA deepens student skills in finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, statistics, marketing, business research, business analytics, information systems, financial modeling, and more. The program includes 11 core courses and five electives for tailoring the degree to meet the unique career aspirations of each student.
The online MBA programs are cohort-based and offered full-time in a rigorous format. Start dates land in the fall and spring. Key features of online delivery include small class sizes and asynchronous coursework. Interaction with faculty and peers takes place through the live classes, breakout rooms for discussion and group work, and faculty office hours.
Both MBA programs include a strategic management capstone that offers the opportunity to refine corporate strategy skills covering topics such as acquisitions, mergers, and long-range planning.
Upon project completion, students present their work to a panel comprising the dean of the School of Business, faculty members, and business professionals. Graduates of the executive MBA and online MBA may go on to mid- and high-level management positions in private, public, and non-profit business sectors.
Howard University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The online EMBA and MBA are accredited through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. Howard University is located in Washington, DC.
