Alvernia University offers a 100 percent online MBA with an executive leadership capstone that can be completed in 12 months. In addition to business topics such as financial accounting, management theory, communication, and teamwork, MBA students explore the topic of moral leadership as it applies to businesses, the community, and the global market.

Other topics addressed through the ethics-driven online MBA include the use of accounting systems for managerial decision-making, consumer behavior, economic theory, nonprofit organizations, microeconomic theory, and financial management. Through the executive leadership capstone course, students assess an organization using case studies and business theories in order to create strategic plans for business success in the global environment.

Courses last seven weeks each, with two sessions per semester in the fall, spring, and summer. Students may transfer in up to six credits and up to nine credits may be waived by the admissions committee.

Graduates of the Alvernia MBA program may go on to leadership and management positions in IT firms, manufacturing, insurance agencies, financial institutions, global businesses, human resources, consulting firms, and marketing.

Alvernia University is accredited through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and offers several online and campus-based master’s programs. What to Expect from the Alvernia University Online MBA

Admission Requirements: Prospective online MBA students must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. No GMAT, GRE, or work experience is required; however, candidates need to submit a resume.
Application materials include an application, official transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a one-page personal statement, a resume, and any additional evidence of potential for success. An interview will be required.

Study Plan: The Alvernia University online MBA program can be completed in as little as 12 months in an accelerated study plan. This may also be achieved with transfer credits and waived courses. Start dates for online programs land in the fall, spring, and summer, and courses last seven weeks each. Students complete a capstone course.

MBA Core Curriculum: The Alvernia online MBA comprises 33 to 42 credits, depending on up to nine credits of waived courses. First, students complete the interdisciplinary course ethics and moral leadership.

The next 18 credits are business courses including advanced managerial accounting; business analytics and forecasting; legal and ethical environment of business; economic analysis and evaluation; financial analysis and implementation; and strategic formulation and implementation.

Students then choose three electives from the following courses: managerial communications; strategic human resource management; investment and portfolio management; special topics; entrepreneurship and economic development; applications of project management; and fundamentals of sales management. Finally, students complete the executive leadership seminar capstone. Leveling courses include accounting for the workplace; management and marketing; and economics and finance.

Online Experience: Alvernia University delivers courses asynchronously through the Blackboard online learning management system (LMS). Assignments have deadlines and students can interact with faculty and peers through discussion boards, email, and during faculty office hours. Student services include an online library, online tutoring services, enrollment counselors, advisers, financial aid services, and technical support.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the Alvernia University online MBA is 100 percent online.
