In order to combine world-class academics and meaningful business experience, the Online MBA program uses real-world case studies in many of the courses to help students merge these two worlds.
In earning an Online MBA at Northeastern University, students learn through case studies, gain advanced communication and business management skills, foster critical thinking and decision-making skills, and build strong relationships with instructors and classmates that extend beyond the online classroom. Although the program is 100% online, students do have the option of completing a campus-based residency and an international residency.
Working professionals with five or more years of work experience can apply. Graduates have gone on to careers in business services, financial services, healthcare organizations, biotechnology, consumer products, retail, defense, and aerospace. What to Expect from the Northeastern University Online MBA
Admission Requirements: Applicants to the Northeastern University Online MBA must hold a BS with a 3.0 or higher GPA from an accredited institution. They must submit an application, application fee, official transcripts from undergraduate and graduate work, two letters of recommendation, a current resume, and an application essay. A GMAT/GRE is not required. International students must submit TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE scores, and transcripts must be evaluated by World Education Services or the Center for Educational Documentation. Five years of professional work experience are required; however, applicants who are close to that may still apply. In those cases, supplemental documentation such as GMAT scores, professional certifications, and other applicable qualifications may be required.
Study Plan: Students may begin the Online MBA program at various times throughout the year. It can be completed in as little as two years. Courses are highly interactive and innovative and students have the option of completing an on-campus, one-week intensive residency or international residencies.

Online Experience: The D’Amore-McKim School of Business uses Blackboard for their web-based management system. Courses are mostly asynchronous which allows students to work at their own pace while still meeting deadlines. At times, students utilize software outside of Blackboard to complete learning objectives and class assignments.
Northeastern University uses various innovative learning techniques, including simulations covering foundational business topics (e.g., team communication and negotiation); gamification, which combines gaming with online learning; collaborative team assignments; online forums that simulate real classroom discussions; and several others. They also use groundbreaking assessment techniques, including peer, forum, and simulation assessments, as well as real-world assignments such as going to a place of business and creating a report with pictures or a video of the way the business is run and the positive and negative ramifications of that.
To keep the experience more personal, the student-to-faculty ratio is capped at 20:1, and instructors are available to provide support and coaching to students.
On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements for the online MBA through Northeastern University as the program is 100% online. However, students have the option of an intensive, one-week, on-campus residency in Boston equivalent to a three-credit course. In addition, students can choose to participate in an international field study residency. Students are invited to visit campus anytime and are encouraged to participate in graduation on campus.
